Freda Salley, 82, of Gautier, MS passed away September 12, 2010, at River Chase Nursing Home where she was cared for by the wonderful staff along with the Southern Care Hospice in her final days.
Freda, to her friends, was born on June 23, 1928, in Birmingham, AL. She graduated from Herbert Phillips High School in Birmingham, AL. She received a home economics degree from University of Alabama. She retired from Gautier Public Library after many years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. (Bob) Salley Sr. of Gulfport, MS; step son, Robert L. (Rusty) Salley Jr. of Houston, TX, and sister, Mary Jean Bond Lofton of Vancleave, MS.
She is survived by daughter, Frances Lisa Nye; niece, Teresa Lofton Carter; brother-in-law, Tommy Lofton all of Vancleave, MS; stepdaughters, Sara Salley Lee of Terry, MS and Caroline Salley Routt of Brandon, MS, and stepson, Van Alexander Salley of Houston, TX. She has 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-niece.
Freda was a wonderful mother, stepmother, grandmother, sister, wife, and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
