Fred "Poppa" Snyder

Fred Snyder, age 74, of Gulfport, and current resident of Perkinston, died March 31, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Snyder was born December 1, 1937, in Biloxi, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellsworth and Erma Snyder; his brothers, Bill Snyder of Gulfport and John Snyder of Jacksonville, FL. He was a Biloxi native and a longtime resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Mr. Snyder served in the Army National reserves for 14 years. During his travels with the reserves, he met the woman he would marry and become a father to their 4 children. He worked 30 years as a butcher and 20 years as a roofer in the family business. He was an avid gardener of vegetables and beautiful flowers. Mr. Snyder was a devoted democrat and valued the American dream of equality for all.
Mr. Snyder is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith Diane Snyder of Perkinston; children, Timothy Snyder and wife Wendy of Fort Mill, SC, Brian Snyder and wife Beverly of Jayess, MS, Tony Snyder and husband Carlos of Gulfport, MS, and Sarah S. Ramos and husband Ron of Gulfport, MS; siblings, Jerry Snyder of Gulfport, MS, and June Butler of Gulfport, MS; grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Olivia, Steven, Jonathan, Jayden, and Ava; 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and many great friends of whom he loved dearly.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 5, 2012, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
