He was 72 years old, and he was the eldest of three children reared in the St. Martin Community. Michael loved participating in sports and excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He served as the quarterback for his St. Martin High School team and led the team to the first defeat of their longtime rival, Ocean Springs, back in 1965. For several years, he served as the coordinator for the South MS Special Olympics, hosted by the South MS Regional Center and held at Keesler Air Force Base. After his retirement, he served on the Advisory Board for the South MS Regional Center. He truly enjoyed working for the center and loved serving his special needs clients.
He served 28 years with the Army National Guard, and was proud to be a veteran serving his country in the Gulf War during Desert Storm and developing a special brotherhood with the men and women with whom he served.
