Fred Hart

1949 — January 1, 2021

Biloxi

Frederick Harold Hart, age 72, of Biloxi, Mississippi passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Ocean Springs Hospital.   Fred was born May 1, 1949 in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and moved with his family to the United States at age 11 months.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold H. Hart and Dorothy Irene Hart.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Bond Hart; his daughter, Lynette Joy Hart; granddaughter, Katie Balius, all of Biloxi; his brother, Robert Hart (Jean) of Vancleave; his sisters,  Janice Rowland (David) and Carol Evenson of Chula Vista, California;  numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and by his beloved Shih Tzus, Ollie and Sophie.

Fred and his family lived in Anchorage, Alaska for many years where he grew up and attended school.  He and Joyce married in 1970 in Anchorage.  Fred worked as a Teamster during the Alaska Pipeline construction, and continued until leaving Alaska in 1985 with Joyce and Lynette.  They have resided in Biloxi since that time.  Fred worked for Col. Stuart Roosa at Gulf Coast Coors for about 10 years and when the business was sold, he went to Rex Distributing where he retired after 16 years.   He enjoyed his work and was well respected and liked very much by his team members.

Fred served in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier, Lexington during the Vietnam era.  He always assumed he was a U.S. citizen but upon retirement and applying for social security benefits they could find no record of it.  After a lengthy process, he became naturalized as a U.S. citizen in June 2020 of which he was very proud.

Fred was a huge NASCAR fan, and he accumulated quite a collection of race cars and memorabilia.  He also loved to participate in Cruisin’ the Coast and was very proud of his 1977 Corvette.  Life will not be the same without Fred, he was always a huge presence wherever he went.

Fred’s wishes were to be cremated and his urn entombed at Biloxi National Cemetery which will be scheduled at a later date.
