Fred Goddard

Fred R. Goddard, age 74, died Sunday, May 29th, 2022, at Singing River Hospital in Gulfport, MS.

He was the only son of Fred C. and May Goddard, born in Somerville, NJ. Fred graduated from Somerville High School in 1966. After graduation Fred joined the US Army and served honorably from 1966 – 1969. Under the GI Bill, Fred received an A.A. degree from L.A. Pierce College, Woodland Hills, California in 1977. Fred worked as a steeplejack for 16 years with the Custodis Construction Co., Finderne, NJ and with Peabody-Continental, Chicago, Illinois. He was later employed as a line technician for 16 years with Reckitt-Benckiser, Hillsborough, NJ, retiring in 2002. Fred was a machine operator with 3M, Flemington, NJ from 2005 until 2013. In 2017 he moved to Gulfport, Mississippi with his partner Kathleen Henry, where he lived out the rest of his days. He was a past member of Martinsville VFW and American Legion Post 12 in Somerville, NJ. Fred enjoyed bowling and fishing throughout his life. Fred is survived by his daughter, Lisa Goddard, of Los Angeles, California. Also surviving is Fred's partner Kathleen, and some of his extended family including numerous cousins.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard Goddard, and his beloved former partner Peggy Ann Thornton.

A viewing with a brief service will be held Sunday June 5th, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home located at 11280 Three Rivers Rd in Gulfport, Mississippi 39503.
