Frank Jackson """"Jac"""" Leiker II, age 61, a resident of Long Beach, died on March 20, 2009, in Gulfport.
Jac grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and graduated from Long Beach High School. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi and worked for the VISTA service program. He is survived by his parents, Frank and Dorothy Leiker, of Long Beach; a sister, Pam Gilbert (Daniel) of Clinton; two brothers, Mark Leiker (Marilyn) of Long Beach and Scott Leiker of Lafayette, LA; his nephews, Nick Leiker of Lafayette, LA; Alex Pierce of Brandon, MS, and Ben Leiker of Long Beach; and his niece, Grace Leiker of Long Beach; aunts, uncles and other family and friends.
Jac will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his love of music, reading, family, and friends. He spent his working career caring for and guiding troubled children, and his influence on those many lives can't be measured. He was particularly moved by the events of Hurricane Katrina. He worked diligently to return his parents to their home, and volunteered with various recovery efforts on the Gulf Coast.
Visitation will be held from 3pm until 5pm on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach. Graveside services will be private.
