Frank N. Andervich

Mr. Frank N. Andervich, age 93, of Long Beach, died on Monday, September 14, 2009, at his home.
He was born October 18, 1915 in Kansas City, Kansas where he lived until 2001 when he moved to the Coast to be with family members.
He served as a Staff Sergeant, 3rd Battalion, 186th Infantry in the United States Army from October 1941 to October 1945 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a squad leader of a 10-man antitank squad; he directed the firing of a 37 mm cannon and a 50 caliber machine gun. His medals include Good Conduct, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, 2 Bronze Service Stars, GO 23 USAFFE 45 Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.
He was a lifetime charter member of the VFW and American Legion, Kansas City, and along with his wife, a volunteer at Wadsworth Veterans Hospital.
He retired with 30 years of service from General Motors, BOP, Kansas City, Kansas. He was of the Catholic faith. One of the highlights of his life was bowling a 300 game.
He was preceded in death by his parents Nick and Anna Blazevic Andervich, his wife Lucy Gallup Andervich, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 2 grandsons and 1 niece.
His survivors include, his daughter, Shirley Yockey, grandson, Steve R. Lawson and great granddaughter, Julia M. Lawson all of Long Beach.; his grandson, Michael M. Lawson, (wife, Nancy), Park City, UT and great grandson, Steven Michael Lawson, Lufkin, Texas, his sister, Helen Duff and his granddaughter, Melody Jackson (husband, Allen) all of Kansas City, KS, as well as many other family members.
We would like to express our appreciation for the care provided by David LaRosa, Memorial Hospital Hospice, Nurse Brenda and her very dedicated aides, as well as Gulf Coast Home Health care workers.
There will be no local services. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Long Beach will coordinate with Skradski Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kansas for graveside services to be held at Wadsworth Veterans Cemetery, in Leavenworth, KS, where Mr. Andervich will be laid to rest with his deceased wife, Lucy.
