Francisca Ogorda Merritt

Francisca "Fran" Ogorda Merritt, aged 82, passed away on July 22, 2023, in Biloxi, MS. She was born on January 29, 1941, in Pasacao, Camarines Sur. Fran was a cherished member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Her genuine warmth and compassionate nature endeared her to her friend community.

After her husband's military retirement at Keesler Air Force Base, she became a resident of Gulfport and Biloxi in 1975. Throughout her life, Fran worked in the Hospitality industry.

In her free time, Fran found joy in her passion for gardening.

Fran is now reunited with her beloved husband, John H. Merritt, their daughter, Rachael Ann Merritt, her parents, Mr. Hegino Ogorda and Mrs. Carmen Villareal, and her sister, Aurora Ogorda Buen who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children Mary Ogorda Thompson (Joe) of Reston, VA, and James Thomas Merritt of Gulfport, MS; her grandchildren, Andrew William Thompson of Reston, VA, Kai Marie Thompson of Philadelphia, PA, and Alexis "Lexie" Louise Pugh of Inlet Beach, FL; her sisters, Enisita Ogorda, and Olympia Ogorda Gomez; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2090 Pass Rd, Biloxi, MS, with the visitation starting at 9:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Biloxi.
