Florence Williams

Florence “Flo” W. Williams, age 85 of Gulfport, MS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mabel Werby; her sons, Robert L. Williams, Jr. and Joseph M. Williams; and her sister-in-law, Lydia Werby.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her spouse of 62 years, Robert L. Williams, Sr.; her children, Katherine M. Holthouser (Gene), J. Lynn Weinberger (Ron) and R. Michelle Stewart (Beau); her brothers, Gibran “Ron” Werby and Michael F. Werby (Elena); her grandchildren, Rachel Maurer (Greg), Melissa Weinberger, Coleton Casano (George) and Royce H. Weinberger; her great-grandchildren, Gregory Maurer, Annabelle Maurer and Benjamin Maurer; and her others relatives, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and hundreds of children whose life she’s touched over the years.

Flo graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mississippi Southern. For over 35 years, Flo was the vice-president and designer for Maybelle Manufacturing located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

After retirement she spent 17 years dedicating her time volunteering with the WINGS program at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center.  She acted, directed, produced, and coordinated props and t-shirts for the productions.  Flo worked on summer outreach helping ensure that several thousand children had the opportunity to see live theatre each summer.  She was a charter member of the WINGS Advisory Board.

Her favorite activity was spending time with her loving husband, college sweetheart, and constant companion Bob, at Lynn Meadows, at home, and traveling around the country in their motorhome.   Flo was larger than life and never met a stranger.  She will be deeply missed and dearly remembered by all the peoples’ lives she touched over her 85 years.
