Mrs. Lorraine Baumgartner, age 94, passed away peacefully in Gulfport on February 12, 2021.
She was born in Oak Park, Illinois to Henry Lewis Smith and Martha Beatrice Davies Smith. After graduation from high school, she began a career as a cost account, which is where she met her husband of 61 years, Elmer Baumgartner. Elmer and Lorraine loved to travel, and they traveled the world.
They eventually moved to Diamondhead, MS to be closer to their son, Jim. Lorraine was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Long Beach. She faithfully managed the Birthday card ministry; and with her talents as a knitter, kept the Grace Prayer Shawl Ministry going strong. She also enjoyed gathering weekly with her friends - the Sew & Sews - in Diamondhead.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; and her son, James Baumgartner.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Vick; 2 granddaughters; and 2 great granddaughters. The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Lorraine Baumgartner was held on Friday, March 12, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church. Her Interment was at the Biloxi National Cemetery beside her husband and son.
