Patrick Packard, age 62, of Ocean Springs, MS, departed with the angels on December 17, 2021.
Pat was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family, golfing, and everything Michigan sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel Louise and Herbert; and his sister, Kim Grimmette.
He is survived by his wife Millie Packard; and his children, Kori Sneller (Shawn), Nikki Mylett (Brett), Lauri Stewart (Amber), Travis Packard (Malena), and Brian Packard (Michelle); thirteen grandchildren, Noah & Haley Rowder, Jayden & Zachary Sneller, Brynn Mylett, Piper, Mark & Collette Packard, Gabriel Houston, Harper & Carter Packard, and Landon & Riley Judd; 2 great-grandchildren on the way; previous wife Suzanne Packard; his siblings Mike Packard (Anita), Kathy Packard Moffit and Kevin Packard (Stephanie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Patrick Packard was born in Ypsilanti, MI, where he and his 4 siblings spent their childhood and his love for Michigan football developed. After high school he joined the Navy and after numerous assignments settled in Ocean Springs, MS in 1995. He served in Desert Storm and remained in the Navy for 20 years reaching the title of Chief Petty Officer. Since retiring from the Navy he began his career on the Aegis Test Team at Ingalls Shipyard where he was a proud member of the leadership team there eventually joined by his son Brian Packard in the last two years.
Patrick Packard was a devoted longtime member of Shell Landing Golf Course where he could be found on so many hot and humid summer days working out his swing on the range. While golf was year round, Saturdays in the fall were dedicated to Michigan football and one of his final happiest memories was of course seeing them defeat Ohio 42-27. Go Blue! And though, in south Mississippi there isn’t much hockey to talk about, from October to summer Patrick could be found on most nights watching the Red Wings game.
His true joy was found spending time with his grandchildren and keeping up with their numerous accomplishments. His schedule stayed busy attending anyone of their numerous events throughout any given week.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of South MS or the Womens Resource Center in Gulfport, MS.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Ocean Springs Hospital, especially Dr. Black and the hospital and EMT staff.
