Faye Nell Sellier Hertzog, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2008 surrounded by family and friends in her Long Beach home.
Born April 1, 1935 to Herman and Jesse Sellier, Faye grew up in Pass Christian. She graduated valedictorian from St. Joseph's School. She attended secretarial school and worked as a teller at Hancock Bank.
In 1957, she met Airman Jake Hertzog of West Lawn, PA while he was stationed at Keesler AFB. They married in 1958, a union lasting for 48 years until his passing in 2007.
Faye was active in St. Thomas Catholic Church and School, the Long Beach Carnival Association, Gulf Pines Council (Girl and Boy Scouts), and Long Beach Jaycettes. In addition to working for Hancock Bank, she has been employed by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and K-Mar Industries at Keesler AFB.
She is survived by four children: Valerie Holloway and her husband, Darrell, of Melbourne, FL, Dottie Kelly and her husband, Danny, of Gulfport, Bill Hertzog and his wife, Kari, of Long Beach, and Scott Hertzog and his wife, Amy, of White Bluff, TN; and four grandchildren: Jessa Davis, and Chris, Matthew, and Lillian Hertzog. She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis Campbell, and her husband, Tommy, of Ponce Inlet, FL; and two nephews, Tom Campbell and Dr. John Campbell, also of Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Daugherty Road in Long Beach, where friends may visit an hour before Mass. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian.
Memorials may be made in her memory to St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Rebuild St. Thomas Fund, P.O. Box 1529, Long Beach, MS 39560. Arrangements are by the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Commission Rd, Long Beach.
