Evelyn Harrell Wallis, age 95, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.
Mrs. Wallis was born in the Crane Creek Community to Arthur and Henrietta Smith Harrell. She and her husband established the first two-way radio company in Gulfport before she went to work with Harrison County as a land records clerk, where she worked over 40 years. She was a lady of many accomplishments and continued working until late last year.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay C. Wallis; her parents; two sisters, Winnie Cuevas and Lorraine Badrock; brothers, Paul and Howard Harrell; and niece, Paula Harrell Necaise.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Patricia Wallis Houser; step grandchildren, David Louis Houser, Neil Anthony Houser, and Theresa Maria Houser; nephew, Robert Wallis, nieces, Cynthia Cuevas Gibson and Gloria Shirley; nephews, Kevin and Kim Cuevas; and a host of great nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 2:00 pm at Crane Creek Baptist Church. Friends are invited to visit two hours prior to services.
Burial will follow in the Crane Creek Cemetery.
