Ms. Evelyn W. Highton, age 86, resident of Long Beach, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Highton was born in 1922 to the late Calvin and Cleo Marks Winningham. She was retired from the Civil Service, where she arranged moving and transportation needs for service members. She was a member of Toastmasters International and enjoyed bowling. She loved spending time with family, especially doting on her grandchildren. She was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her 6 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, James Robert Highton, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Long Beach; grandchildren, James Christopher Evans, Nicholas Highton, and Benjamin Highton; great grandson, Daniel Evans; former husband, James Robert Highton, Sr. of Gulfport.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, at 10 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
