Mrs. Evelyn Estes Fillingim, age 87, resident of Long Beach, passed away on Saturday, December 05, 2009.
Mrs. Fillingim was born in Sylacauga, AL to the late Bethel and Nettie Sumners Estes. She worked as a switchboard operator at the Seabee Base and Mississippi Power. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard Fillingim; daughter, Donna S. Nicholls; brothers, JT, Sorrell and Edmund; sisters, Myrtis and Annie Ruth.
She is survived by her son, David Fillingim and his wife Karen of Destin, FL; grandchildren, Trey Pennell and his wife Renee of Long Beach, Corey Pennell of Long Beach; and great grandchildren, William, Katherine, Kimberly, Kayla, and Lauren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach at 11 am. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior to mass. Burial will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
