Evelyn M. Cross, age 81, of Long Beach, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Cross spent most of her life on the Coast. She owned and operated Cross Grocery Store for 30 years. Mrs. Cross was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, crafts, and crossword puzzles. She was known as """"Granny Cross"""" at the Rainbow Strawberry Farm.
Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Cross; her son Ronald Elliott Brown; her parents, Allen and Ruth Neal; and her sister Shirley Howard.
Survivors include her children: Kenneth Forrest of Virginia; Diane Clark and husband David of Midwest City, OK; Lisa Blackmon and husband Danny of Long Beach; and Suzanne Cross McMillan of Brookhaven; her grandchildren: Wayne Forrest, Ashley McMillan, David Chadwick Clark, Brittany Blackmon; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 12:00 Noon at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach, with visitation two hours prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, 6191 Espy Ave., Long Beach, MS 39560 or to Memorial Hospice 4500 13th St. Gulfport, MS 39501.
