Eva W. Gaston Sandusky, age 92, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Emeritus of Biloxi.
Mrs. Sandusky was born in Gulfport in her parents' home. She had three sisters, Blair (deceased), Sue (deceased) and Caroline, and one brother, Eb (deceased). Her late husband, John, was originally from Columbus, Ohio. They met after his family moved to the Coast.
Eva & John had two children, Mike (deceased) and Michele. Mike passed away in 2001.
Eva has lived her entire life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She worked at First United Methodist Church in Gulfport for many years (under Brother Clyde Gunn) as church secretary. Then, Eva worked for four years at Northeast Elementary as a secretary. After Northeast Elementary, Eva went to work at the 1839th division at Keesler AFB. Both she and John worked at Keesler for two decades and both retired from KAFB in the 1980s. Eva enjoyed reading and listening to classical music.
Eva is also survived by two grandchildren, Rosalie and Mikayla; one great-granddaughter, Mattie; and her daughter-in-law, Dani.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 9:45 a.m., Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
Eva will be laid to rest next to her husband John at the National Cemetery in Biloxi.
