Eva Jo Thurman Ladner Ashburn

Eva Jo Thurman Ladner Ashburn, age 67 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Friday, September 2, 2011, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Ashburn was a native and lifelong resident of Gulfport, and was a member of the former Central Baptist Church in Long Beach. She was a hairdresser and retired as manager of JC Penney's Salon after 10 years of service. Eva Jo also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Caroline Thurman; her sisters, Mary Rogers and Donna Hanks and her brothers, James Thurman, Wiley Thurman, and Charles Thurman and her previous husband, Leory Ladner, Sr.
Mrs. Ashburn is survived by her husband of 11 years, Bill Ashburn of Gulfport; her son, Leroy (Connie) Ladner, Jr., of Gulfport; her daughter, Theresa Curtis of North Carolina; her sisters, Betty Sears of Gulfport, Patricia (Stanley) Allen of Long Beach, and Avis (Mike) Garland of Gulfport; her brothers, Wallace (Ruth) Thurman of McHenry, William (Linda) Thurman of McHenry, Edmond (Shelia) Thurman of Gulfport, and Martin (Diane) Goodman of Long Beach; her grandchildren, Cody Ladner of Gulfport, Eva Weatherford of Gulfport, and Christopher Curtis of North Carolina and one greatchild Ivan Lamm of Gulfport.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at 12'Noon at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
