Eugene William Wescovich sailed into his new life on July 3, 2007, where he was reunited with his dear wife of 68 years, Aurora Breaux Wescovich.
""""Captain Gene"""" was a lifelong resident of the coast and would have celebrated his 91st birthday on July 8, 2007. He was an avid boatman and fisherman (shrimper) all of his life. For his many years of service to the seafood industry, he was named """"King Fisherman"""" of the Pass Christian Blessing of the Fleet. He was especially proud that his boat, the """"Lucky Strike"""", won the best decorated boat several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mary Ellen Ross Wescovich, 3 brothers, Peter Seifert Wescovich, George Ross Wescovich, and Henry Louis Wescovich, all of Biloxi, 5 sisters, Mamie Wescovich Lipscomb, AL, Frances Wescovich Brannan, Lillie Wescovich Dubaz, Cecelia """"TT"""" Wescovich, and Grace Wescovich Broussard, all of Biloxi, and a son-in-law, Richard Lassabe.
Survivors include 1 brother, James D. Wescovich, Biloxi, 4 sons, Leroy (Donna) Wescovich, Lutcher, LA, Maurice """"Pochie"""" (Barbara) Wescovich, Long Beach, Eugene (Mary Ellen) Wescovich, Jr., Belleville, IL, and Jimmie P. Wescovich, Long Beach, 2 daughters, Mary Ann (Harry) Bishop, Gulfport, and Henrietta Lassabe, 15 grandchildren, Missy Sinks, Stevie Wescovich, Pam Dill, Pee Wee Wescovich, Tom Wescovich, Patricia Wescovich, Dan Wescovich, Ellie Jacobs, and Tim Wescovich, Ricky, Joe, and John Bishop, Lori Lassabe, Jill Coleman, and David Wescovich, 21 great-grandchildren, Sarah and Steven Boise, Jayme Austin, Rebecca Dill, Jonathan and Joseph Wescovich, Cory and Jackie Wescovich, Chandler and Charlie Wescovich, Baby Jacobs, Garrett Bishop, Julia, Joseph, and Jude Bishop, Carson Bishop, Kyra Lassabe, Ben and Grace Coleman, and Haley and Saige Wescovich, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Steve Boise, and Ruby Austin.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the RIEMANN FAMILY'S Gulf Coast Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road Chapel, Gulfport. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am.
Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
