Eugene """"Pops"""" Rogers, Ret. Chief, USN, age 70, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in Gulfport.
Mr. Rogers was a resident of Gulfport for the past 37 years. He retired from the US Navy, Seabees, Unit 133, after 27 1/2 years. He retired from Civil Service with the Gulfport VA.
He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Jason D. Haley and Jonathon C. Riley; mother, Gracie Pearl Rogers; father, Fred Rogers; and 2 sisters and 6 brothers. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Weaver Rogers of Gulfport; nine children, Stanley Eugene Rogers,Teresa Rogers Gaona, Sheila Rogers, Melody Rogers, Frieda Kelly (Ray), Freddie Jacobs (Ann), Vickie Penton (Eugene), Kathy Riley (Dennis) and Eddie Jacobs (Jackie); sister, Mildred Lee Rogers; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, October 10 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Biloxi River Baptist Church. The funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the church with burial to follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Gulfport. Guestbook at www.riemannfamily.com.
