Erwin Chambers

Erwin Lee Chambers, born August 9, 1914 in Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2007.
Mr. Chambers was a resident of Gulfport, MS and a member of First Baptist Church in Gulfport.
He retired, after 25 years of service, from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer being stationed in Hawaii, San Diego and San Francisco. He served in WWII and was an expert marksman while in the service.
After leaving the U.S. Navy, he settled in Denver, CO and retired, once again, with 25 years with the U.S. Postal Service before relocating to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1984.
A complete list of names, dates and other pertinent information was unavailable due to loss of records in Hurricane Katrina.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Faye Wingert Chambers; four siblings and two wives.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Elaine Chambers of Gulfport; numerous nephews and nieces, John Wilcox of Nine Mile Fall, Washington, Danny McKinzie of Greensboro NC, Diane Donaldson of Greensboro, NC, Randy Bradley of Carmel Valley, CA and Billie Brown of Pacific Grove, CA.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 29, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Riemann family's GULF COAST FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. Graveside Service will be held 9:00 AM on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to First Baptist Church of Gulfport Building Fund, 2120 14th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501.
