Saucier

Eric James Wise of Saucier, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the age of 34.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Fairley and Dave Wise; his grandmother, Joanne Wise; and his uncles, Steve and David Wise.

Eric leaves behind his beloved wife, Dr. Heather Wise; his parents, Leigh and Jeff Wise of Biloxi;  his mother-in-law and father-in- law, Kim and Brian Younger of Saucier; his grandmother, Lynda Fairley of Biloxi; his aunt, Amanda Conine (Richard); his cousins, Amber, Anna, and Ethan of Biloxi; his uncle, Douglas Wise (Kristina) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; his sisters-in-law, Haley Fairley and Lilly Fairley; and his brothers-in-law, Jacob Fairley, Peyton Younger and Atley Younger of Saucier.

Raised in Biloxi, Mississippi, Eric is a 2005 graduate of Biloxi High School. He went on to attend college at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus as well as The University of Southern Mississippi where he was heavily involved in the Baptist Student Union. He was an employee of Keesler Federal Credit Union where he served as the Card Services Manager.

Of all the things that Eric loved in life- baseball games, hockey (Go Preds!), golf (he really loved golf)- he most enjoyed spending time with his beautiful wife, Heather. Heather and Eric met at church and continued to spend many memorable hours serving at their church, Michael Memorial Baptist Church, together. Eric and Heather volunteered in many different capacities, and Eric especially loved playing and goofing around with kids. Eric was also blessed with musical gifts and served as part of the praise band. His faith was a major aspect of who Eric was, and it was this faith that served as a pillar for his marriage.

When Eric wasn’t serving at church, playing a round of golf, or teasing his wife and his friends, he and Heather loved going on vacations (to Disney, of course) and spending time with their family. Eric truly valued his family and strived to be the kind of husband that God had called him to be. He and Heather were married for a little over 3 years, and in that time, Eric managed to make every moment of their marriage exceptional. It was an exceptional marriage in that Eric brought out the absolute best in Heather and was so intentional in the way he loved and supported her. He was intentional in all of his relationships as well as genuine- he was a person that believed in friendship and showed that in how he loved the people that he surrounded himself with. He was a giver- both in gifts and knowledge. Eric LOVED sharing knowledge with others, almost as much as he loved having a plan. Eric was a natural leader and voice of reason, bringing comfort to those around him.

Eric will be missed by so many; that was made evident through the outpouring of love and prayers that were relentlessly given from not only his personal family but also his church family and countless friends and coworkers. His life was a life well-lived because it was a life devoted to his Savior, Jesus Christ. The people he loved so fervently here on Earth still yearn for his presence, but there is no doubt that he is playing his guitar in the most epic praise session in glory right now.

Services will be held at Michael Memorial Baptist Church, 15053 John Clark Rd, Gulfport, MS 39503, on Thursday, November 4, at 6 PM.
