Enla Moran

Enla Ray Moran, age 83, passed away peacefully Friday evening, March 5, 2021.

She was born on April 25, 1937 in Gulfport, Mississippi to Jimmy Grimes and Nettie Byrd Grimes. She is survived by her beloved and doting husband of nearly 60 years, Jack Moran; her children, Beth Smith Moran Yutzy (Ray) and Cary Moran (Crystal); and grandchildren, Amanda Knox (Russell) and Kaila Moran Griffith (Carter) whom she treasured. She also leaves behind countless relatives and close friends who will no doubt miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Nettie Grimes. She was also a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church for more than 30 years.

Enla Ray, known as Mamaw by her family and friends, was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Jack and Enla Ray spent many years camping with family and friends after he retired. Mamaw was happiest when she was spending time with her family whether that be on a camping trip, out shopping or just swinging on her back porch. Enla Ray was an experienced and wonderful cook, and many holidays, dinners and Sunday mornings were spent around her table. Her succotash, cornbread dressing and pumpkin and pecan pies will surely be missed. Aside from cooking, she especially loved supporting and spoiling her two granddaughters. She never missed an event or life occasion, no matter how small.

She was kind, witty, and sometimes feisty, but would welcome anyone into her home with open arms. She radiated warmth and love. She loved animals, especially her 'grand-dogs,' Pippa and Millie. Her presence was like no other in the world.
Mamaw's strength, energy, and dedication to those she loved was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by everyone lucky enough to have known her.

A private, intimate service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Shriner's Hospital for Children.
