E.V. """"Vondell"""" Thornton, age 72, resident of Gulfport, died on Friday, May 2, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mr. Thornton was born in Leake County to the late Marshall Theodore and Ruby Mae Quick Thornton. He was a longtime General Contractor on the Coast and enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and MS Sea Wolves Hockey, where he was a season ticket holder.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Brenda Van Court of Gulfport; sons, Nick D. Thornton of Gulfport, and Tim Thornton and his wife Kim of Gulfport; stepdaughter, Lisa, Van Court of Gulfport; sisters, Barbara Smith and her husband L.T. of Carthage, MS, and Sis Porter of Houston, MS; grandchildren, Chad Thornton and his wife Elysce, and Travis Thornton.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport at 11:00 a.m.
