Mr. Elsworth """"Pope"""" Davis, age 65, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Davis was born in Laurel and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a retired truck driver for Roadway. He enjoyed his retirement adoring his grandchildren, sharing in their hobbies, and attending their activities at the softball fields, dance recitals, and halftime shows/band competitions. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 991.
He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Ernestine and Clarence Mills; and a brother, Ray Mills.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Angelina """"Angie"""" Davis of Gulfport; children, Angela Breedlove and her husband Randy of Gulfport, and Stephanie Burge and her husband Kevin of Gulfport; grandchildren, Chelsea Saucier, Madison Burge, Kayden Breedlove, and Makenzie Burge; and his sister, Patricia Dianne Johnson.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 24, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, at 1 pm. Friends are invited to visit two hours prior to services. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Garden Park Hospital for their care and compassion.
