Elodie L. "Dee" Smith, born on June 2, 1935, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi. Throughout her life, Dee made a significant impact on those around her, particularly during her career at the Gulf Coast Mental Health Center, where she left behind many cherished friends.
Dee is remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering support to her loved ones and colleagues. She enjoyed a fulfilling life as a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family was of utmost importance to her. Dee is survived by her daughters, Robin (Danny) Bush and BranDee L. Senn, both of Gulfport. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ashton Senn of Gulfport (who was her caregiver), Kerra L. Cox of Long Beach, Rhian (Casey) Chapman of Ada, MI, and Lake Senn of Gulfport. Additionally, Dee took great joy in her role as a great-grandmother to Landon Cox of Gulfport, Raelyn Chapman of Ada, MI, Elin Chapman of Ada, MI, and Carter Cox of Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her son, Raymond C. Richardson, Jr., her mother, Mary Germade, and her beloved grandparents, Eugene and Annie R. Germade, whom she affectionately called Mama and Papa, who played a significant role in raising her.
Dee’s life was one filled with love and dedication to her family and friends. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
