Elmer Herman Felts, age 76, passed away on January 27th, 2021, at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport.
"Mo," as he was affectionately known by those who loved him, began his earthly journey on August 30th, 1944, in Shawano, Wisconsin, to Elmer O. Felts and Anna M. Felts. Upon graduating from Neenah High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy and graduated boot camp from the Naval Training Center located in San Diego, California. For the next 26 years, Mo faithfully and dutifully served his country, having been stationed in service, both stateside and abroad, as a Hospitalman. During his career, Mo was awarded numerous ribbons, based upon his service and in appreciation. Among these awards were the National Defense Service Medal, numerous Good Conduct Awards, Battle E Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, M-16 Rifle Marksman Award, Meritorious Mast Award, and the Humanitarian Service Recognition Award.
In addition to his Naval career, Mo also spent 20 years in the position of Service Manager for Norwalk Furniture, formally located in Gulfport, Mississippi. During his free time, he enjoyed numerous activities, such as fishing, competing with his bowling league and playing Wii. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and was an avid player of card games.
Mo met his wife, Mickie, whom he absolutely loved and adored, in 1986. The two were married in 1987 and spent each day, side by side, for the next 33 years.
Mo is survived by his wife, Mickie; daughters, Theresa (Ken) Fincher, Robin Felts, Tanya Lindsay, Melissa Arceneaux, Susan Bourgeois, Amy Felts; his son, Christopher Felts; his granddaughter Rebecca; great grandson, Dylan; his goddaughter, Ann Marie; and a large host of extensive family and dear friends.
Mo was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Anna Felts; and his brothers Ron (Donna) and Ricky.
Mo was a member of Mississippi City United Methodist Church, located in Gulfport, Mississippi.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 31, 2021, at MS City United Methodist Church, with a visitation for family starting at 1:00 PM, followed by a friends and family visitation from 1:30 PM until the service.
