Elizabeth O'Brien Lawson

Betsy O'Brien Lawson, age 65 of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday February 5, 2023.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Roxanne O'Brien.


Betsy is survived by her daughter, Julia Lawson (Ty) Cadle; siblings, Ginny (Mike) Basinski, Patti (Jim) Ingraham, Bridget (Jerry) Rodriguez, Jody (Steve) Moritz and Richard (Zoe) O'Brien; and her beloved dogs, Dixie and Camry.


A native of Leawood, Kansas, Betsy received a Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of Kansas. She would later move to Long Beach, MS, where she would raise her daughter, Jody. Jody was the love of Betsy's life, and Betsy cherished her role as Jody's Momma. She loved spending time with Jody, Ty and Jody's friends. Family meant everything to Betsy. Betsy was the most thoughtful, perfect gift-giver, a prolific reader and the Trivial Pursuit Queen. She loved to travel, especially home to Kansas and Estes Park, Colorado. Jody, Ty, her sisters, brother, nieces, nephews, groovy chick, Aunt Penny, her dogs and all those who loved her will forever miss her quick wit and sparkly spirit.
