Elena Zappa Bendzlowicz, age 92, of Long Beach, passed away after a long illness at home on May 10, 2022 with her family by her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley M. Bendzlowicz; her father, Marcello Zappa; and her mother, Dora Zappa.
Mrs. Bendzlowicz is survived by her children, Constance Taylor, Michelle Black (Kenneth), and Michael Bendzlowicz (Bettina); her grandchildren, Kendra Walden (Stampley), Jacob Taylor, Layla Bendzlowicz, and Preston Bendzlowicz; her great-grandchildren, Wesley Walden and William Crews Walden; and she is also survived by cousins in Belgium, Rome, Italy, and Melbourne, Australia.
Elena was a native of Naples, Italy, and was a long time resident of Long Beach. She devoted her life as the spouse of a U.S. Navy service member for 31 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking amazing Italian dishes, loved her pets and she was devoted to her family. Mrs. Bendzlowicz was a member of the Long Beach Garden Club, served at Keesler Medical Center as a Red Cross Volunteer for 31 years, and she was a poll worker for elections in Long Beach. She was of the catholic faith.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 16, 2022, from 11 am - 12:30 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, Long Beach. A graveside service will be at 1:30 pm in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
