Elder J. Cuevas, age 73, of Gulfport, passed away on April 30, 2010 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren Cuevas and Amelia Cuevas; a son, Darryl Keith Cuevas; a grandson, Justin Cuevas; a great grandson, Ashton Carroll; two brothers, Raldo Ladner and Dempsey Cuevas; and a niece and his Godchild, Kathleen Summers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Zola Kay Cuevas of Gulfport; two children, Venessa Centeno and her husband, Luis, of Lizana and Kendall Cuevas and his wife, Jamie, of Perkinston; two sisters, Gladys Bosarge of Gulfport and Geraldine Royals of Ocala, FL; eight grandchildren, Katrina Compton, Randall Masters, Candice Cuevas, Katelyn Cuevas, Lorin Cuevas, Tyler Cuevas, Daryl Keith Cuevas, Jr, and James Earlywine, Jr; and four great grandchildren, Antonio Palang, Brenden Carroll, Shawna Compton, and Brooklyn Jensen.
He worked at Carroll's Auto Parts as a wrecker driver and mechanic for 28 years; then served in the Gulfport Police Department Reserve Division for 17 years.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 49, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Campground Baptist Church, Gulfport. Burial will follow at Wolf River Cemetery.
