Elaine Marie Kelley, age 66, born in Baltimore, MD and a resident of the Coast, passed away in Gulfport, MS on September 15, 2022.
Elaine was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer over 5 years ago, and she has fought a long hard battle as only a warrior could. She was so committed to her fight against cancer, that she agreed to participate in a trial drug program that helped prolong her life. Her family and friends will always be inspired by her courage and her commitment to help find a cure in hopes that one day other families will have more time with their loved ones because of people like her. Those that are willing to risk themselves and try new treatments for others sake. That was Elaine.
She was preceded in death by, Shirley Ann Lowe Crabtree; Arvin Donald Crabtree, and Ann Marguerite Crabtree.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Smith and her husband Richard; by her siblings, her brother, John TD Crabtree (Jacqueline), her sisters, Jeanene Houston (William) and Margaret Pirro, and her brother, Eric DP Crabtree; grandchildren, Antonio Smith and Ashley Smith; her great grandchildren, Alex Smith, Alyeena Smith, Antonio Smith, Jr., Savannah Miller and Josiah Smith; and Tommy Moore.
She was a 1974 graduate of Roosevelt Rds High School, and later earned a Bachelor’s of The Arts in Business Management, Cum Laude from Saint Leo University. She worked for over 30 years in government service, including the Naval Oceanographic, DECA and DLA. She had a love of ceramics and willingly taught anyone that was interested in learning how to create it. Elaine rescued many animals over the years, providing permanent homes for them. Her love of a giving a good rescue home to those many animals, knew no boundaries.
In lieu of flowers, Elaine would have wanted you to donate to a Battered Woman’s Shelter, The American Cancer Society, or to your local Humane Society.
