Edythe Murriel Klise Meyer died peacefully at her home in Gulfport, MS on March 23, 2015 at 105 years of age.
She was born October 30, 1909 to Newton Klise and Lillie Allena Musser Klise in Washington Township, Iowa. She attended nurses training at her mother's urging but decided that she would rather work as a beauty operator. She then opened a salon called Lady Faire. During World War II the soldiers would come there to get their hair cut because she had decided that if she put her picture in the ad in the paper she could attract more clients, it worked beautifully. One of the soldiers had cut out the ad and taped it up in the barracks, giving her the title of ""the original pin up girl"" which always made her laugh.
Edythe married her husband Cmdr. John M. Meyer in 1947 and spent years traveling the World with him. She was an Artist and truly found her niche while living in Japan where they were stationed with the US Air Force. Her home was completely decorated with paintings that she did while living in Japan and she had many stories of their time spent there.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cmdr. John M. Meyer, her parents Newton and Lille Allena Klise, her brother Herbert Klise and her sisters Georgia Bauer and Gertrude Gericke.
Left to grieve her passing is her longtime attorney and friend John G. McDonnell, Robin Swarthout, her loyal Home Instead Senior Care caregivers and the staff at Pinnacle Hospice.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 1:30 p.m at Biloxi National Cemetery.
