M/Chief Edwin James Garside, Sr, U.S. Navy SeaBee, Retired, age 72, of Diamondhead, died on February 26, 2008 in Diamondhead.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma E. Garside, and his parents.
He is survived by his children, Edwin J. Garside, Jr of Denver, CO, John G. Garside and his wife, Mary, of Gulfport, and Leonard N. Garside and his wife, Patricia, of Diamondhead; grandchildren, Amanda Garside, Casandra Garside, James Garside, Jennifer Garside, Daniel Garside, Joseph Garside, John Garside, Tony Ladner, Marie Gill, and Leonard N. Garside, Jr; and great grandchildren, Hannah Craig, Wyatt Carpenter, Joey Garside, Phillip Garside, Brett Garside, and Maraih Gill.
M/Chief Garside retired from the U.S. Navy SeaBees after 30 years, having served in Vietnam; was project manager for Johnson Controls at NASA; and worked with the State of Mississippi at the Air National Guard facility where he retired in 1998. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dedeaux Community; and the Diamondhead VFW Post 2880. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Highway 49, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
