Edwin Arnold ""Eddie"" Blake, age 56, of the St. Martin Community lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, January 16, 2011, in Ocean Springs, MS. Until we meet again may the perpetual light shine upon him and may he rest in peace.
Eddie was a military brat, born on July 22, 1954 in England. He attended St. Martin School in Jackson County, MS where he was a lettering member of the Jr. High and High School Football, Basketball, and Track teams. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp and was a platoon leader in an Am-Trac P7 Unit. After leaving the Corp, he became a welder and worked at Ingall's Ship Building in Pascagoula, and other businesses along the Mississippi coast and Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arnold Blake, & Robert and Margaret Swanson Munson; maternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Porter Williams, all of IL; his father, Edwin Ellsworth Blake of Myrtle Beach, SC; mother, Carol Mae Williams Spencer; and sister, Kimberly Dean Spencer, both of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Eddie leaves behind his brothers, Eugene Marion Blake (Yuko) of Ocean Springs, MS, and Kevin James Spencer of Kernersville, NC; a sister, Cynthia Louise ""Cindy"" Cates (CJ) of Biloxi, MS; his children, from the union with Kathy Davis, Traci Lynn Dobbins, Robert Christopher Blake (Tiffany), and Shaun Carl Blake, all of Ocean Springs, MS, and from the union with Michelle Desporte, Shane Ryan Blake of Biloxi, MS; his grandchildren: Sebastian Dobbins, D. Myler Dobbins, and Emersyn Blake, all of Ocean Springs, MS; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A military graveside Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the American Cancer Society or Disabled Veterans.
