Edward "Ed" Hatem

Edward “Ed” Hatem, age 68 of Long Beach, passed away October 31, 2021 in Pass Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Robbie Hatem.

Ed is survived by his wife of fifty years, Sue Hatem; his children, Jessica Herr (Joel) and Ed Hatem, Jr. (Gracie); his siblings, Jimmy Hatem, Jerry Gotliboski, and Cathy Hatem; and his grandson, Julian Herr.

Ed was a lifetime resident of Long Beach and earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and anthropology. He was of the Methodist faith.

Ed served as chief of the Long Beach Auxiliary Police Department and also as a volunteer firefighter with the Long Beach Fire Department.

He pursued a career as a union organizer with the Mississippi Alliance of State Employees (MASE/CWA). He also worked alongside his father at Hatem’s Garage, a well-known Long Beach business. He most enjoyed fishing in his spare time.

One thing Ed's family will always remember about him is his laughter.

The visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, November 8, 2021, from 9:00am until10:00am at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will follow at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel.
