BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI - Edward Albert Stachowiak, 77, passed away at 2:06 A.M., on Friday, December 22, 2006, at the Gulf Coast VeteransaÌ‚â‚â„¢ Administration Hospital in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he was a resident.
Visitation will be from 9:15 aÌ‚â‚"" 10:15 A.M. on December 28, 2006 at the Riemann family's GULF COAST FUNERAL HOME, Three Rivers Road, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM, on December 28, 2006 at the National Cemetery, in Biloxi Mississippi.
Mr. Stachowiak was born in Cicero, Illinois to John and Helen Stachowiak, on September 19, 1929. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps having been enlisted for 9 years. He achieved the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and received various awards for service during World War II, the Korean War, and the Purple Heart award for wounds received in combat in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps, Edward (Whitey) Stachowiak began working in construction in California and eventually moved back to Illinois and began working as an ironworker. He achieved the position of Superintendent of Ironworkers with Crane Construction Company and was responsible for the steel reinforcing in many buildings in Chicago, including, Marina Towers, The Chicago Civic Center, Frontier Towers, The CNA Building, and The Hancock Building. Needless to say he left his mark on the City of Chicago. He was also a member of the Iron Workers Local Union No. 1 in Chicago and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his former wife, Ida B. Stack of Biloxi; his son and daughter-in-law Alan and Ann Stachowiak of Tunnel Hill, Illinois, his daughter Eve Perrin of Gulfport, his son Michael Stachowiak of Gulfport; his son and daughter-in-law John and Karen Stachowiak of Tenino, Washington, his daughter and son-in-law Christina and aÌ‚â‚Å“Chipâ₝ Dukes of Biloxi; his sisters and brothers-in-law Alice and George Stuth and Rosemary and Jimmy Thompson of Largo, Florida, and his brother and sister-in-law John and Marilyn Stachowiak of Woodridge, Illinois; his grandchildren, Renee Michael, Donny Michael, Ashley Boyce,
David Stachowiak, Christi Stachowiak, Brian Stachowiak, Theresa Stachowiak, Jennifer Stachowiak, Lisa Stachowiak and Jacob Stachowiak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Jennifer Stachowiak, and his
