Edward Farrior Pittman, age 92, of Gulfport, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 in Gulfport.
He was a native of Union Springs, Al and had lived on the coast since 1967. He attended University of Alabama and later graduated from Auburn University in 1948. Mr. Pittman served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during WWII and after the war began working for the USDA as an Entomologist until his retirement in 1973. He enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking, economics, and photography.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Mae Moseley Pittman, parents, James Foster Pittman, Sr. and Mary Spurlock Farrior Pittman, siblings, Mary Ivey McIlwain, and James Foster Pittman, Jr.
Survivors include his children, Marilyn Pittman (Jack) Foster, Hazlehurst, MS, Betty (Earl) Veeder, Franklin, LA, Donald Edward (Velina) Pittman, Gulfport, and Julie (Rick) Beringer, Baton Rouge, LA, 1 sister, Winifred Pittman Bond, Birmingham, AL, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday from 10 - 11 am at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am in the chapel.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Rotten Bayou with honors by the U.S. Air Force.
Memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army.
