Edward Vernon Merriam, age 89 and a resident of Ocean Springs, died on Thursday, October 13, 2011, in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Merriam worked for many years with the space program at Cape Canaveral. He had been a resident of the MS Gulf Coast since 1967 and was owner/operator of Biloxi Amusement Park. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a Mason and a Shriner.
Mr. Merriam was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Bertha Merriam and his wife, Jacqueline Merriam.
He is survived by his children, Edward Vince (Deborah) Merriam of Gautier and Vicki (Cort) Phillips of Waveland; his sister, Mildred Shoeman of Madrid, IA; his granddaughter, Tanya Merriam of Ocean Springs; his great grandchild, Alexandra Bosarge of Ocean Springs, and an expected great grandchild, Sofia Marie Reynolds.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 2:00pm at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs.
The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi, is in charge of arrangements.
