Edward T. Krieger, Jr., 89, retired U.S. Marine Corps Captain, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Inez Hickey Krieger; and his brothers-in-law, Charles Schilling and Paul Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Lupe C. Hawes-Krieger; his daughter, Susan Solis (Harry); his son, Edward Krieger (Vicky); his step children, Anna Hill, James Walker, Fred Walker, Michael King, Anthony King, and Christy Bernicken (John); his sisters, Joanne Schilling, Jeanne Johnson, and Janet Pagart (Darryl); his grandchildren, Matthew, Michelle (Tara), Teresa (Trey), Katelynn, Dion, Anthony, Jr., Morgan, Breckin, Grayson, Paul, and Breana; his great grandchildren, Myracle, Maxwell, Ellie, and Micah; his special Chi, Maria; and his cockatiel, PooPoo.
Edward was born in New Orleans, LA, and resided in Gulfport. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, retiring with the rank of Captain in 1973. After retiring from the military, he worked as a salesman until his second retirement with Dibs Chemical Company.
He loved playing golf and was a big fan of New Orleans Saints football.
Edward was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. Family visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. The public is invited to join the family from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Krieger will be laid to rest with military honors at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach.
Following services, friends are invited to join the family for a gathering at 814 Hardy Avenue, Gulfport 39501.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of choice.
