Edward Gross

Major Edward R. Gross, USAF, Ret., 74 of Diamondhead died Sunday February 19, 2006 in Gulfport.
Mr. Gross was a native of Nashville, TN and graduated from Battleground Academy in Franklin, TN. He joined the U.S. Air Force in December 1950 and served faithfully as a Fighter Pilot and Transport Pilot and continued his military career with the Air National Guard. He attended Vanderbilt University, graduated from Mississippi State University in 1960 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and in 1976, he graduated from the Jackson School of Law. He was admitted to the Bar in the same year and joined the Law Firm of Dean and Dunn where he practiced Oil and Gas Law primarily in the Western U.S.
Mr. Gross moved to Diamondhead in 1995. In 1999, he married Joyce N. Gross and they have resided in Diamondhead on a permanent basis since December 2003. He was diagnosed with Liver Cancer in April 2005 and underwent treatment at the Cancer Research Center, Tulane University Hospital, New Orleans, LA.
His memberships and affiliations include the Mississippi Bar Association, Diamondhead Community Church, Krewe of Diamondhead, serving as King Ali'i Honia XXIX in 2004, Diamondhead Boaters Assn., Fin and Feathers, Aloha Club, and the Diamondhead POA.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; one brother, Paul Gross, Pineville, NC; son, Rusty Gross, Pensacola, FL; daughters, Mischa Marlowe, Grayson, GA, Melissa Sullivan, Jackson, MS, and Cindy Roszel, Diamondhead; sons-in-law: Rick Sullivan and Jeff Marlowe; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Gross; 12 grandchildren: Alex, Eric, Magali, Michael and Andrew Marlowe, Matthew and Amy Gross, Haley and Dustin Leist, and Patrick and Jamie Read; and one great-grandchild, Elizabeth Leist.
A service celebrating the life of Mr. Gross will be held at 11 am Thursday at the Diamondhead Community Church.
