Edna McKay - Stevens, age 100, passed away May 12, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born October 29, 1921, in Jackson County, Mississippi to Edward and Amanda McKay. She was married to Sterio Gus Stevens who preceded her in death April 30, 2002. Her son Ronald “Ronnie” Joseph Cuevas also preceded her in death on November 16, 2014.
For many years, Edna was a nurse and took care of countless patients and family. It suited her servant heart. Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Edna is survived by her daughter, Harriett Cuevas - Olson and husband, Gary; her eight grandchildren, William “Joey” Harrington (Karen), Tammy Harrison (David), Wendy Carroll (Randy), Ronnell Mangrum (Chris), Eddie Cuevas (Lisa), Leah Hutchins (Mike), Melissa Cuevas, and Heather Cuevas; her brother, Edgar “Red” McKay of Gulfport, MS; her sister, Ellen Wilson of Biloxi, MS; 21 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and was touched deeply by each one.
Please join us in celebrating her life Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, Mississippi. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave., Biloxi, MS. Reception to follow burial at Crossway Church, 2600 22nd., Ave., Gulfport, MS
