Edith Smith

Edith A. Smith, age 80, resident of Gulfport, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Smith was born in New York, New York and worked as a clerk typist for the civil service. She was a devoted wife and mother, a wonderful cook, and she enjoyed baking for her family and friends. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Gulfport where she served as church treasurer and on the altar guild.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Alexander Smith, Jr.; parents, Walter and Mildred Arnold; mother-in-law, Anne B. Gibson; and granddaughter, Jacqlyn Smith.
She is survived by her children, Richard W. Smith of Fairfield, CA, Stephen A. Smith of Wellston, OK, Martha A. Holland of Oklahoma City, OK, David F. Smith of Midwest City, OK, and Jonathan K. Smith of Edmond, OK; brother, Walter Arnold of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Kara M. Mellott, Joshua D. Holland, Casey Smith, and Cole Smith; great grandchild, Chance J. Mellott; nephew, Lee Smith and his wife, Mary of Kiln.
The funeral mass will be Saturday, February 11, 2006, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 11322 E. Taylor Road, Gulfport, at 2:00 p.m. Friends may visit prior to services from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport, MS.
