Edgel Lester

Edgel L. Lester, age 85 of Woolmarket, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Edgel was born in Baileysville, WV and served in the United States Air Force for 9 years until he received a medical discharge.  He worked at General Motors on the engine assembly line in Flint, MI for 13 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred L. Lester and Edna Barrett Lester; his first wife of 41 years, Mary Wingate Lester; his three brothers, Lewis W. Lester, M. Dale Lester, and John Allen Lester; a step-granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

Edgel is survived by his wife of 23 years, Joan Taylor Lester of Woolmarket; his two sons, Glenn Lester (Diana) of McKinney, TX and Michael Lester of Raleigh, NC; his daughter, Ronda Bowles (Jon) of Troutville, VA; his two stepsons, Mike Sumrall (Carrie) of Woolmarket, Darryl Sumrall (Emily) of Perkinston, MS; his only sister, Fay Stewart (Billy) of Roanoke, VA.  When asked, he and his wife would tell people that between the two of them, they had 5 children, 17 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 28, 2020, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, with a visitation from 1:00 PM until the service.  Interment will follow at Coalville Cemetery.
