Duane Hay

Duane M. Hay, age 71 was born on December 15, 1948, to the late Duncan Smith Hay and Geneva Liles Hay of Valrico, FL.

Duane was called home by our heavenly Father on January 15, 2020, at 10:41 PM, after a lengthy illness, at the VA Hospital in Memphis, TN.

He was born in Oakland, CA.  He was raised in Valrico, Florida and later resided in Memphis, TN.  He served in the U.S. Army and was a proud American.  Duane was a devout Christian, a proud military man, a great husband, a great father, and a true friend to all who had the opportunity to know him.  He loved God, family, and his guns.

Duane was preceded in death by his grandparents, Duncan and Sophie Hay of North Dakota; his parents, Duncan S. and Geneva Hay of Valrico, FL; and his sister, Diane Hay Wilson of Valrico, FL.

He is survived by his wife, Sabrina May Hay (formerly of Saucier, MS); his children, Duane Michael Hay II (Cheryl), Erika Hay Cooper (Jason), Amber Hay Ellison (Craig), Joseph Hay (Tricia), and Jonathan Hay; his grandchildren, Lance Hay (Ashley), Ellie Hay, Robbie Patton (Courtney), Courteney Edwards, Kyle Edwards, Jordan Kamerzink, and Gavin Ellison; three great grandchildren, Wade Michael Cooper, Rion Patton, and Ryleigh Mae Hay; two nieces, Shannon  Cervi, and her son Vincent and Lori Wilson and her daughter Alexis.  He is also survived by Mike and Erika’s mom, Belinda Blackmar and Amber, Joe, and Jonathan’s mom, Pam Brooks.

The family would like to thank the Memphis VA Hospital staff for the excellent care that Duane received while he was a patient there.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, January 25, 2020, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, with a visitation from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.  He will be laid to rest with full honors at Saucier Cemetery following the service.
