Dr. John Allan Brazitis, age 83, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on November 29, 2023. Born on May 13, 1940, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to John and Florence Brazitis, he leaves behind a legacy marked by profound contributions and a life rich with accomplishments.

A dedicated father and esteemed military veteran, John served in the United States Air Force, where he excelled as an Avionics Navigation System Technician, Telecommunication Specialist, and Electronics Instructor. John retired honorably at the rank of TSgt after a distinguished 20-year career.

Beyond his military service, John achieved other notable milestones including the attainment of a PhD in Hypnotherapy, becoming a licensed Hypnotherapist. His private practice provided invaluable support to numerous patients: addressing emotional challenges, aiding smoking cessation, and facilitating weight loss journeys.

John's commitment extended beyond his professional endeavors. A respected Past Master at both PolarStar Lodge #154 and Gulfport Lodge #422, he played an integral role in establishing the latter and garnered admiration among his Masonic peers. Additionally, he was an active member of the Shriners clown unit, bringing joy to hospitalized children under the persona of Beffums.

He is survived by his four children: Daniel (Norma), Karen (Randy, deceased), John, and Michael (Sandra), as well as his younger sister, Janet Rupp, and her three sons. John leaves behind a legacy through his ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Throughout his military career, John and his family traversed various locations worldwide, including Germany, France, Ohio, Florida, Hawaii, Mississippi, and California, with overseas postings in Pakistan and Thailand. Settling in Gulfport, Mississippi, for the past five decades, he contributed to the community, including a tenure at Mason Chamberlin Ammo Plant before retiring fully.

John's love for the southern lifestyle was evident in his pursuit of hunting and fishing, where he became an accomplished Bass fisherman, securing victories in numerous tournaments. An avid golfer, he cherished rounds played across different courses alongside his sons. His talents extended to the realm of art, with his paintings showcased at the Pentagon's Visitor Center.

A service commemorating John's life will take place at 11:00 am on December 7, 2023, at Riemann Funeral Home (11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport), featuring Masonic Funeral Rites. Following the service, a funeral procession will honorably convey John to the Biloxi National Cemetery, where he will be interred with full military honors.
