Dr. Samuel D. Gore, Jr. of Pass Christian, Mississippi, formally of New Orleans, passed away peacefully in his home on August 16, 2018. He was a prominent New Orleans Orthodontist noted for his work in creating neonatal palatal prostheses for infants with cleft palates. He also volunteered this service for children in need. Dr. Gore was a graduate of Isidore Newman High School, New Orleans, Tulane University (B.A.) Loyola University School of Dentistry (D.D.S.), and The University of Michigan. (Masters of Orthodontics). He served in the United States Navy during World War ll.
Dr. Gore was a volunteer and a member of the Pass Christian Friends of the Library and served as Treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Pass Christian Yacht Club and The Stratford Club of New Orleans.  He loved to play bridge and was much sought after as a bridge partner. He was an avid cyclist and skier.  Dr. Gore was an Elder in St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church, New Orleans and a member of Pineville Presbyterian Church, Pass Christian.
Dr. Gore's wife, Nancy Jordan Gore; his grandson, Samuel Ryder Gore, Boulder, Colorado; his parents, Dr. Samuel D. Gore, Sr. and Margaret Jones Gore, New Orleans, Louisiana, preceded him in death.
Dr. Gore is survived by his loving companion, Marjorie Schroeder; his son, John S.K. Gore (Kimberly) Boulder, Colorado; grandsons, Kendall K. Gore and Nichols S. Gore; stepsons, Gary J. Brooks (Gina), Hernando, Mississippi, and James V. Brooks (Ashleigh), Atlanta, Georgia; and step granddaughters, Samantha Carroll and Meghan Johnson.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Pineville Presbyterian Church in Pass Christian on Thursday, August 30, 1:00pm with a memorial service at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Pass Christian Friends of the Library, Pineville Presbyterian Church, and Humane Society of Harrison County.
