Douglas Capps

January 1, 1957 — December 17, 2020

Long Beach

Douglas Howard Capps, age 63 of Long Beach, sadly passed away from this life on earth and on to his next adventure.

Doug was born in Kansas and raised in Arizona, where he lived and loved. It was there that he started his greatest and most treasured adventure, fatherhood. Being a devoted father to his sons, Mike and Ryan, brought him happiness and pure joy, as well as two forever best friends to enjoy life‘s journey with. Although, it was never just his own two boys that you could find him with. His sons’ friends and neighbors, many of them without a strong father’s influence in their own life, wanted to join the fun and Doug never turned anyone away. This began many special close bonds and friendships that would last a lifetime. They shared many moments enjoying the outdoors of Arizona together. In 1994, a new chapter would begin for them, along with a complete change of scenery. Long Beach became their new home and together they experienced new coastal adventures and eventually even shared their new destination with numerous loved ones from Arizona, who joined them for a new life in Mississippi, because of the closeness they had shared. Life in Mississippi brought Doug many more important roles in his life that was very special to him. He became a grandfather and that completely filled his heart and all his days with absolute joy. They instantly became a new light in his life and the topic of his conversations. If becoming a grandfather wasn’t special enough, he added “greatness” to that role and two great-grandsons were recently brought into his life.

Doug really enjoyed life to the fullest. He did not want to ever “feel old” and he never let anything stop him from enjoying all he wanted to do. His life truly became full and complete when he was blessed with an opportunity to love and raise another beloved son, Tristyn. Together, they enjoyed many new and exciting adventures and made memories to last a lifetime.

Doug was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved to serve the youth and was a great mentor and leader. He really enjoyed the Boy Scout program and was very involved in serving the scouts. With Tristyn by his side, he recently joined with a local scout troop, where he actively served and dedicated his time to help plan adventures and provide guidance for these scouts he grew to love.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Capps.

He leaves to cherish his memory his dear mother, Janice McClure Capps; his siblings, David and Daniel (DeannaVaughn); his sons, Mike, Ryan, and Tristyn; his grandchildren, Brandon, Mikayla, Madison, Austin, Christopher, Gage, Morgan, Mackenzie, and Eli; and his great-grandsons, Grayson and Lawson. Doug leaves behind many loved ones, countless people he loved and considered his own family and who in return, loved, admired, and appreciated him. He has been a significant father/grandfather figure to a great number of people who love and miss him already.
