Dorothy E. Sullivan, 78, Major (Ret) USAF, Certified OB/GYN Practitioner, USAF, of Biloxi, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010, in Biloxi.
A visitation will be held for Dorothy on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dorothy at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Biloxi at 10:00 am Thursday, May 20, 2010.
Burial will follow the Mass of Christian Burial at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Ms. Sullivan was a Biloxi resident since 1982 and devoted member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She attended William Carey College and worked at Keesler Air Force Base Hospital, Gulfport Memorial Hospital, and the Navel Retirement Home.
She was born in Boston, and was raised and educated in Boston schools and graduated from the Whidden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated as a Certified OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner Training School for the USAF.
She served in the US Army as a Surgical Nurse for three years and 18 years as a Clinical Nurse and OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner in the US Air Force. She was stationed at bases throughout the U.S. and in Germany, Okinawa and volunteered for two tours of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. """"Dotty's"""" life long devotion to the church, family, and friends as well as her kindness and compassion will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Her medals while in service included: Meritorious Service Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters; Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four oak leaf clusters; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with two service stars; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster; and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Fazio, Alice Bennett, Garrett Sullivan, and Thomas Sullivan; and her step brothers, Arthur Bopp and John Bopp.
Survivors include her sisters, Margaret C. Goodwin of Quincy, MA, Catherine M. MacDonald of Winthrop, MA, Frances L. Zoldos and her husband Ken and son Kevin Zoldos of Biloxi; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
