Dorothy Stephenson, age 93, a longtime resident of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Slidell, LA.
She was preceded in by her husband of 54 years, John W. Stephenson, Sr.
Mrs. Stephenson is survived by her children, Janet (John) Duplechain of Slidell, LA and John W. (Sharon) Stephenson, Jr. of Sulphur, LA; her four grandchildren, Renae Dussor, Dale (Rachel) Duplechain, Jay (Catherine) Stephenson, and Lyle (Thersa) Stephenson; her seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a teacher's aide at 28th Street Elementary School, Gulfport for many years. She was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport where she taught 2nd grade Sunday School Classes for over 50 years. Mrs. Stephenson was a homemaker who loved her family, neighbors, never met a stranger and enjoyed fishing and travelling.
The funeral service will be held at The First Baptist Church of Gulfport on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. for family and friends. The interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
