Dorothy Stebbins

Mrs. Dorothy Eleanore Huckett Stebbins, a longtime resident of Gulfport, MS who relocated to Mobile, AL following Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, died on June 6, 2007 in Mobile following a brief illness.
Born in Lansing, MI on April 7, 1917, she was a graduate of Rice University and retired as an Inter-Library Loan Librarian for the Harrison County Library System. Mrs. Stebbins was a past President of both the Gulfport Civic League and Merry Maskers, member of the Gulfport Yacht Club, and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin A. Stebbins; parents, Ralph Lee Huckett and Ruby Perry Huckett; and sister, Ruth Frances McCotter.
Survivors include her daughter, Ellen Stebbins Shelton; her son, Edwin A. (Mary) Stebbins, III, all of Mobile, AL; grandson, Tarver Shelton of Mobile; granddaughter, Flynt Stebbins of Augusta, GA; other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 8, 2007, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to French Camp Academy (a Christian School Home), One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745-9703; Westminster Presbyterian Church, 5005 Lawson Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39507; or one's charity of preference.
